  • Michaele Salahi Unleashes Her “Singing” Debut.  Here’s White House party crasher Michaele Salahi singing her debut song “Bump It,” and it’s nice to see she’s gone from invading parties to invading all sense of musicianship and good taste.  What’s odd is that so many reality show stars get to make singles, which doesn’t really link together. It’s like saying to someone, “Oh, you were on TV?  Here, take this chainsaw and make an ice sculpture.”

  • From the Phanatic’s Snout: I’m OK. Two days after being hit in the head by a foul ball, the Phillie Phanatic says he’s doing just fine.

The beloved green fuzzball stopped by our studios Friday and confirmed that he’s back in tiptop shape.

The Phanatic was in the stands at Coca-Cola Park for a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game Wednesday night when he took a hit to the neck during the third. He was taken to the hospital to get checked out and didn’t return for an eighth inning appearance.

Tom Bergoyne, the Phanatic’s best friend, thanked everyone for their concern Thursday.

“Since we’re soooo close, I felt his pain and have a nice golf ball-sized knot just above my eye,” he said in a Facebook post. “Bring on the A’s this weekend - the Phanatic will be ready!”

The Phanatic showed us just how spry he was by offering up a big kiss to our own Lori Wilson. He may again be on the DL.

  • “Today, You Have Achieved Something Special — Something Only 92% of Americans Your Age Will Ever Know – a College Diploma.” Conan O’Brien gave the commencement speech at Dartmouth yesterday, and it is as predictably brilliant as you’d expect a grad speech from Conan to be, and it begs the question: Haven’t we learned by now that ALL colleges should have a comedian for the keynote commencement speaker? I graduated college and all I got was a Supreme Court justice. I was robbed of precious mirth, I tell you.

  • It’s Time For Another Overthought Father’s Day Gift Guide.  Every year, publications amass Father Day gift guides that promise awesome alternatives to things like ties and cologne, and what do you get? Jars of pickled cabbage and $26 T-shirts. Speaking for all dads, just give me the tie. Stop trying so hard.

  • If he wants to run, great. He’s got time to run, but he’s got to move into the city…He’s not a city resident.

That’s Mike Bloomberg talking about Alec Baldwin’s possible mayoral run in New York City. NBC New York wrote earlier this week about Baldwin’s Suffolk County voter registration, which he would have to change if he wants to, you know, be mayor of the city. Baldwin has an apartment on Central Park West, but lists his Amagansett mansion as his primary residence. And does this sound like an endorsement from Bloomberg?

  • Canada Did Not Annex the Ben Franklin Bridge. If you’ve used Google Maps lately, you may have noticed an odd name pop up over roads like the Vine Street Expressway, Schuylkill Expressway and White Horse Pike in South Jersey.
US Route 30 has been mislabeled by the wayfinding giant as Quebec Route 366. The issue isn’t limited to our area either. US-30, which runs West to East across the country as a patchwork of major and minor thoroughfares, is mislabeled in other cities and states too.
After receiving several emails from readers and coming across loladelphia’s Tumblr post on the issue, we decided to hit up Google for comment. A spokesperson said the issue may have come from an inaccuracy in a third-party vendor’s data:

Google is committed to providing our users with the richest, most up-to-date maps possible. We’ve built our map from a wide range of authoritative sources, ranging from the U.S. Census Bureau to commercial data providers, and have used satellite, aerial, and Street View imagery to help complete the map. Overall, this provides a very comprehensive and up-to-date map of the US, but we recognize that there may be occasional inaccuracies that could arise from any of those sources.

Google says they’ve passed along the issue to their tech team for correction and ask users to report problems when they notice them using the report link at the bottom of every map.
We also looked for the real Quebec Route 366 and it runs just outside the city of Gatineau on the banks of the Ottawa River.
So rest your hearts Philadelphia, we are not going Canadian.

  • Oh, How Far the Internets Have Come. We’re not sure what’s funnier about this newspaper clipping from 2006 — the fact that it’s an actual clipping, the headline of the story in question or how a URL is being characterized as an email address.
From Dan McQuade’s willdo Tumblr:

While cleaning after work tonight, I found a Daily News from 2006. It contained the above correction.
That domain is now available.
